Dewey M. “Rusty” Moore, Jr. has been a leading a figure in the world of investment management for decades, putting his God-given skills to the test and carving out a successful career for himself across many professional roles and positions of leadership. He has infused his career with the desire to offer clients a Biblical perspective on estate planning and investment management.
Rising to the Top
Originally from Mount Vernon, Texas, Rusty grew up in Hughes Springs where he lettered in football, excelled in numerous activities, and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from SMU in 1971 with a degree in Business, Finance, and Marketing, and he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He later received a post-graduate Certificate in Financial Planning from SMU.
Rusty started in commercial real estate as a sales rep at Henry S. Miller Commercial in the 1970s. He went on to become the Senior VP and National Sales Director of Primerica Financial Services before founding Rushmore Financial Group in 1991. As Chairman and CEO of Rushmore, he led the company through rapid growth, from a fledgling startup to a retail brokerage organization with a nationwide account base and a network of more than 2,000 agents and registered representatives.
Rusty presided over the RushTrade® unit’s multimillion-dollar development of proprietary software and financial technology. Early on, he recognized that real-time financial services technologies and direct-access online trading would revolutionize the online brokerage and institutional trading industry. He led the company through its successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the (NASDAQ: “RFGI”) in April 1998, and he guided the company through a number of public and private equity transactions, culminating with the merger and acquisition of Terra Nova Trading, LLC in May 2006.
Rusty holds FINRA Series 6, 24, 26, 62, 63, 65, and 79 registrations, and he is a registered investment advisor. He has been recognized by several international accounting firms as a “qualified financial expert” in addition to his corporate governance and regulatory compliance expertise, and he has been quoted in numerous publications throughout his career, including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. He later served in executive roles at Puritan Financial group from 2006 to 2008, at the Institute for Wealth Advisors until 2018, and at Commerce Street Holdings in 2019. He is the Managing General Partner of Dewey Moore Family, L.P.
Serving the Kingdom
He has served on the boards of directors for a public company, two life insurance companies, several private companies, and a not-for-profit international ministry organization, MentorLink International, where he served on the audit and development committees. He is a frequent speaker to business, community, and church groups.
Rusty is a Qualified Member of Kingdom Advisors, which offers a Biblical perspective on investment strategies and Kingdom-focused life goals. He has served on a number of boards and committees, as a Sunday school class leader, and as a small group leader. Formerly members of Dallas Bible Church where he completed Deacon and Elder training, Rusty and his wife Jennifer are members of a new church home, New Covenant Church, in Naperville, IL.
As an active board member with MentorLink International, Rusty also served as a mentor with the MentorLink Institute. Rusty’s Spiritual gifts are Wisdom, Discernment, Teaching and Leadership, and he looks for opportunities to serve the Lord through personal discipleship and mentoring, through speaking engagements at churches, to business groups, and through leading Bible study groups in the marketplace. In 2019, Rusty completed a Masters in Biblical and Theological Studies through Dallas Theological Seminary and is enrolled as a part-time student working on a DMin in Leadership.
He and Jennifer reside in Dallas and maintain a second home in Naperville, where they enjoy quality time with their daughter, son-in-law, and three granddaughters. Rusty enjoys reading, training, and on occasional weekends, hunting and fishing on the family farm.
